WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES by Virginia Scott MUSEUM HAPPENINGS The museum is busy with planning our redesign of the archive room. The proposal for the redesign will be sent out to the board members this week for approval so will keep you informed. In spite of the current conditions in our country, we still have people visiting from out of town. We just got back from a trip to Colorado and found everyone was practicing the safe mask and distancing. If you would like to see the proposal for our archive room, one is available for public reading. HISTORICAL MUSINGS Will Rogers has a special meaning to our area since he spent time working on one of our local ranches. The Skaggs kept up with reports of his activities and reported described him "as a gum-chewing, rope-throwing, diplomat-at-large." They wrote in their column "Town and Country Notes" In 1930," he was working under a contract by which he received $72,000 for 14 radio talks of 15 minutes each, advertising a tooth paste. A young fellow who is good at figures says it amounts to about $350 for every minute that Rogers is on the air." |
