WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES
by Virginia Scott

MUSEUM HAPPENINGS

We can tell Spring is here. We had visitors from Colorado, Idaho, and Tennessee last week and a lot of locals enjoying the spring weather. This rain has everything so beautiful. Our gardens in front of the museum are both blooming. Of course this means the sound of lawn mowers will fill the air when we dry out some. The country side is looking great with all our playas full and the wildlife out and about.

Our museum is coming along with plenty of activity happening in the new area. Georgia is repairing one of our mannequins with the skills she learned years ago at one of the workshops we attended. The knowledge and skills we learned from all those sessions comes in handy. People are still amazed that our museum is volunteer based.

Our meeting area is starting to be used for county and family functions. We thank these groups for using our facility and remind everyone that our meeting area is available. It can accommodate 80-100 people and has a counter with sink with tables for serving. Call the museum at 806-852-2123 for booking.

REMINDER: Wayne Paul's reception is this Sunday, June 21. We will also have a presentation by Carl Williamson on the book he wrote on this region. Doors open at 2 pm with the program at about 3 pm. It promises to be a great afternoon. Come and enjoy meeting Wayne Paul if you don't already know him and see his wonderful spurs.

HISTORICAL MUSING

The ladies found the following clipping from our newspapers that was published by the Arizona Association Of Industries :

What happens to DWI offenders in other countries:

Australia: The names of the drivers are sent to the local newspapers and are printed under the heading : He's drunk & in Jail

Malaya: the driver is jailed; if he's married, his wife is jailed, too.

Turkey: Drunk drivers are taken 20 miles from town by the police and forced to walk back, under the escort of police.

England: one year suspension and $250 fine and jail one year

Norway: Three weeks in jail at hard labor; one year loss of license. Second offense within five years, license is revoked for life.

France: three year loss of license, one year in jail and $1,000 fine.

Bulgaria: a second conviction results in execution

El Salvador: your first offense is your last! Execution by firing squad.

If leaving the country and you drink and drive, you might want to check their laws and have second thoughts about the drinking or the driving. America might need to review these, We do publish when you are in jail but might need to start telling us why, but the grape vine usually lets us know. Have a good week and DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.
