MUSEUM HAPPENINGS

CORRECTION: Due to calendar conflict with other county events we will reschedule our fundraiser with the date to be announced soon. We hope everyone will attend the fundraiser and benefit auction for Ryan Boughan.

Pam Tyson's reception will be Sunday, September 15 at 2 pm. She has some beautiful and creative quilts. It is always educational and entertaining to visit with our quest artist and learn their inspiration that created their works. You will see that quilting is truly a form of art when you see creations.

HISTORICAL MUSINGS

In the Sept 11,1919 issue of the Follett Times, they reported the following:
"Jim Travis has been a busy actor in the house wrecking business having bought the old Ivanhoe Methodist Church recently and of course has been taking the building down, but the bell which weighs in the neighborhood of a couple of thousand pounds caused Jim to bear down somewhat heavy with the strong arm which landed right side up with care. Friday evening the bell was brought down to the busy Town and Saturday forenoon placed to the right of the Methodist church where it has been mounted temporarily and the first sounds of the bell for the church hour were sounded for the Sunday services. The ton (tone) is a mellow one and very pleasing to hear."
I'm assuming that this is the bell in Follett. I can not find any reference that tells me why Mr. Skaggs called it the "Busy Town"

Enjoy the week.
