WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES by Virginia Scott MUSEUM HAPPENINGS A quiet week except for the weather. It is the season for thunderstorms and tornados especially in our neck of the woods. Our historical musings recalls a storm from 1919. We are working on the expansion of the military exhibit and a new exhibit back by the farm equipment. We all agree that we are just about at capacity and will have to start rotating our collections. This is a wonderful thing for any museum to be able to continue changing exhibits so you can find something new with each visit. For this we thank all of you who contribute to our success. We are researching for venders for our equipment replacements and hope to be able to find suitable replacements soon. Reminders: HISTORICAL MUSINGS In April, 1919, There was a snow storm with winds at thirty miles per hour. It destroyed the blooms on the peach trees and left snow drifts of three to four feet killing one to seventy head of cattle at various ranches. The temperature dropped to 23 and in the aftermath, they discovered that some of the pears, cherries and plums seedlings appeared to have survived. Hope for Spring and have a good week. |
