WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES by Virginia Scott MUSEUM HAPPENINGS We enjoyed the Bingo game on Saturday Night. We had three of our long tables occupied with over 20 people present. The winners were democratically distributed with also everyone in a group winning at least once. The caller duties were shared by Floyd Theissen and Ann Wright. Plenty of refreshments available and Ed Scott worked the pop corn machine. This is always fun and we will plan on relocating it to the museum proper when the courthouse moves in. So stay tuned to the latest. Our fundraiser is on schedule for October 13th at 6:30pm. Tickets are $25 per person and are on sale now. Call 806-852-2325 for reservations. This Sunday, September 30 from 2pm to 4pm is the reception for Cody Graves. His exhibit is titled the Spiderweb Tack and each piece is unique. If you own animals that require harnesses, etc. you need to come see his work. He also makes bullwhips. Hope to see Sunday. We will also have a "BRANDING" on this day. If you would like to have a "brand on a board" at the museum bring you brand. The Mueseum will supply the HEAT & the wood. There is a charge of $25 for this service and they will be place on our wall in the ranch area for people to view. This should be a fun afternoon for plan to come. HISTORICAL MUSINGS In relocating the courthouse, the Judge and his staff are cleaning the attic. We are receiving old newspapers and old correspondence. This week they have delivered a stack of correspondence from past county judges. It is wonderful reading and is giving us historical names and happenings. One such letter was from The County Home Demonstration Agents Association dated September 4, 1963 to Judge Tarbox announcing that Mrs. Mildred Pugh would be one of four Texas Home Demonstration agents to receive the national honor. The award was present to her at their October meeting in Salt Lake City. The group requested that Lipscomb County pay her way to the meeting to receive the award. There wasn't any attached document that lets us know, but I expect that they did, don’t you. |
