WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES by Virginia Scott MUSEUM HAPPENINGS As I am writing this weeks column there is a lovely slow rain coming down. This promises to be a good week for moisture and we will enjoy it. Our monthly bingo game was well attended again and one person was the winner of the night with nine bingos. She tried to buy a lotto ticket after our games but the ticket sales were closed. The rest of us managed a win or two but everyone had a good time. We are preparing for our participation in the upcoming celebration in Follett who will be 100 years old. We will have three entries and a surprise historical figure. We will have the exhibit on the Red River War in November and will be on exhibit for our fundraiser on the 4th. HISTORICAL MUSINGS Last week, I quoted from the Limelight a "brindle bossy" and with the help of one of our readers it was translated for me as a brown cow from the works of Charles W. Scarff in his work Sunbeams or the Sunny Side of Life by Charles W. Scarff in his poem entitled "The Old Cow's Bell". The Skaggs were well read. There are so many aspects of life that occur and change our life's when we are involved with military conflicts The following ad appeared in the Sept 20, 1917 issue of the Limelight reflects one such change:
Mr. Glasey is not on our list of servicemen from WWI so if anyone has information on him, please share with us. We will research more on him. |
