WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES by Virginia Scott MUSEUM HAPPENINGS Things are still very quiet here at the museum. We are coming in and are open for our usual hours 10 am - 4 pm Monday thru Friday. We have the precautions for our safety and for our quests. It is time for us to change exhibits, I will put the information in next week's column. We are having a book sale for 20% off of our publications. If you need reading material, come and browse our selection. HISTORICAL MUSINGS Since one of our town building is undergoing a remake, here is the history of our Lipscomb school house. It was built by J.D. Stephens Construction Company for $17,800.00. Construction began immediately after the contract was accepted on July 19, 1922. Classes were held in the new building the fall of 1923. Albert J. Minton was chairman of the School Board and P.O. Boyd was secretary at the time of the construction. Classes were held until the 1970's. Stay safe. |
