WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES by Virginia Scott MUSEUM HAPPENINGS Bingo Night had a good attendance and almost everyone scored a bingo. We thank Floyd Thiessen and Carol Barton for calling for us. If you haven't attended a bingo night think about it. We bring snacks and beverages are available. Bring the kids and have a night out. It's fun and our prizes are nice. Tickets will be on sale shortly for our annual fundraiser to be held on Saturday, October 13th at 6:30 pm with silent and live auctions and a new secret entertainment planned. The event will be held in our meeting room this year to see if our space can accommodate the event. So plan to come and help us evaluate the event. Tickets are $25 per person and the meal will be catered by Kay Boughan. HISTORICAL MUSINGS With school starting, I will be providing quotes from Supt. Ivan C. Baucom of the Lipscomb School in August, 1918 to the prospective students and their parents. "I believe for a person to be well educated his every day written and spoken language should be pure English. Hence, we shall insist upon good language in every subject taught, and the best use of it on the playground. I believe that a broader understanding of history makes better citizens and as that is the purpose of the public schools so shall history be taught."More of his golden rules next week. Have a good week. |
