WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES
by Virginia Scott

MUSEUM HAPPENINGS
This beautiful weather has encouraged people to get out and see the wonderful wildflowers and green trees. This is one of the most beautiful spring I have seen. Everything in my yard is blooming and for me that's a small miracle. So I hope you get out and look at our wonderful landscapes and all the playas and ponds. We have had a lot of visitors traveling on genealogy vacations. They all are very complementary about our new research room.

The new exhibit area continues to take shape. We hope to have the area completed for our open house scheduled for August 15. Please plan to come and help us celebrate our new area and enjoy the museum that the citizens of our county and surrounding areas have so generously paid for. Look for our poster announcing the time and our program.

Our July and August featured artist is Gwen Ferguson and her students.

HISTORICAL MUSINGS

John Adams, a lawyer, the first Vice President and the Second President of the United States, was one of the members of the Second Continental congress who signed the Declaration of Independence. He wrote to his wife, "I believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival... it ought to be celebrated by pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other..."

His wish has come true with also every community in the United States will gather to watch parades, fireworks, eat hot dogs, hamburgers, and potato salad.
The Vitale Fireworks Display company of New Castle, Pennsylvania are responsible for more that one thousand fireworks shows every year. Constantino Vitale brought his expertise at making fireworks from Italy to the United States. He passed his secrets on to his four sons, and since then the company has been making Americans exclaim "ooohh" at the lighted colors in the sky.
We hope you have a safe and fun Fourth of July.
