WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES by Virginia Scott MUSEUM HAPPENINGS We had a crowd of over 50 on Sunday for our reception for Dick Wilberforce and presentation by Alex Hunt. We were educated on the history of the area and the concept of region. Apparently there are many definitions and opinions of the term. What is your definition of region in relation to our area? A good topic for the coffee club or lunch group. Let us know what you decide. We had many new faces at the reception and everyone seem to enjoy the afternoon. We are very close to starting our new addition to the museum. A dirt digger is actually parked on the grounds. This is exciting. Our membership drive this year will go in the fund for the new building so please send in your memberships. Our new function is Saturday, October 26, AT 6 pm program is the outlaws and food is Bar-B-Que. Tickets are available at the museum. Call us for reservations. We need a head count by Oct. 23 so the caterer will have plenty of time to cook. Call us at 806-852-2123. Look for posters around the area in post office, grocery store, etc. HISTORICAL MUSINGS I seem to be finding all the great little poems so here is another one "No child of mine," I used to cry, Before the stork had fluttered by, "will ever throw a temper fit or bite or scratch or whine or hit" Or keep his bottle til he's 3 Or worship cowboys on TV, Or dawdle so he makes me late, Or leave his carrots on his plate, Or act in short, like other kids Who make their parents flip their lids, "Heavens No!" But along with the patter of little feet Go a couple of million words to eat. HAVE A GREAT WEEK ! |
