WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES
by Virginia Scott

MUSEUM HAPPENINGS
I think I have a polterquist in my computer. I wrote this week's column and pushed send and when I tried to print a copy for the file the only thing showing up was the heading so I will now try again.

We had a quiet week. The board meeting on Wednesday was held but we did not have a quorum so we could not officially conduct business. However we did review goals and accepted the 2016 goals for 2017.
the goals are to continue the development of subject historical markers, develop and plan exhibits for the museum, and continue participation in regional and national organizations and programs.

HISTORICAL MUSINGS
In the January, 1916 Lipscomb Limelight, the Skaggs reported the following story: When Mark Twain, in his early days, was editor of a Missouri paper, a superstitious subscriber wrote saying that he had found a spider in his paper, and asked him to answer and printed this: Old subscriber: Finding a spider in your paper was neither good luck not bad luck for you, He was merely looking over the paper to see which merchant is not advertising, so he can go to that store spin his web across the door and lead a life of undisturbed peace ever afterward. Union appeal.

Were the Skaggs trying to say something to local merchants with this story?
