It is the end of the month and time to change exhibits so next week will be busy taking down and putting up. This week and Monday and Tuesday of next week will be the last chance to see John Van Beekum beautiful photographs and Pam Haines June brides. Our next exhibits will be quilts.

I have been busy traveling the region as our representative to the Regional Trails Board and the Panhandle Tourism & Marketing Council. These groups have one common goal and that is to promote our regional history and to promote tourism. It is the trails board that supports the arrows in all our counties.

The core group is still working on auditing our records and collection to ensure that we have correct paperwork with location of each item. This sometimes leads to an all day treasure hunt. It never dull around here.

We are starting to arrange this year's fundraiser and next year's programs so if you know any one or a group that have programs, concerts, etc. please send them our way. We need local talent to showcase.

Everyone who has visited Lipscomb's downtown or attended one of the dances can remember the cement vault that stands beside the gallery building. We found an article from a 1914 newspaper with the record of the fire that killed Ms. Nelson. The fire occurred in February and the ground was frozen and the following was reported: "The charred remains were gathered and arranged properly....a fitting funeral sermon at the union church after which all that remained of this once pure Christian woman were placed in state at the vault of the old Lipscomb State Bank building until a future date." A future ghost story for tours of Lipscomb?
