WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES by Virginia Scott MUSEUM HAPPENINGS Our annual fundraiser was a success with 90 people in attendance which is excellent since we were completing with other events in the area. As usual everyone enjoyed our featured speaker Tracy Andrews who educated us on the work in Florida with the turtles. Her movies and slides were very interesting. Our silent and live auctions went well and Kellie's pies were a hit as usual. Thanks to Kay Boughan for her dinner of ham and roast beef with all the fixin'. Everyone was praising the food and we had very little left. A great way to end our year. We will close for the year on the 22nd of November so if you want to see our exhibit, please come soon. HISTORICAL MUSINGS Remember to attend a Veteran's Day event somewhere on Friday, November 10th. The 11th is the official Veteran's Day established in 1919 as Armistice Day. It was officially recognized as Armistice Day in 1926 through a congressional resolution. and became a federal holiday in 1938. It became 'Veteran's Day' in in 1954 and became a federal holiday in 1971 to be recognized on the second Monday in November.
