WOLF CREEK HERITAGE MUSEUM NOTES by Virginia Scott MUSEUM HAPPENINGS I hope everyone is recovering from our weather storm of ice. It was beautiful but destructive. The museum suffered not damage but our courthouse and neighborhood trees suffered badly. I hope we don't lose any of them. Due to the weather and the lack of electricity, the museum has been closed for a week. We were scheduled to have a board meeting on the 18th but was not able to hold it. It has been rescheduled to Wednesday, February 1 at 3 pm. in our meeting area here at the museum. January and February is our student art show and the art is coming in and as usual we have very talented children in our county. Stay tuned for the date for the reception. We also have an exhibit to celebrate and educate you on Madre Gras which celebrations started January 6. The most famous one is in New Orleans. HISTORICAL MUSINGS Continuing our look at Lipscomb County in 1916 & 17, here is a couple of tidbits from the Jan 20, 1916 issue of Limelight: "The past week has been good steady winter weather in this end of the Panhandle and just strong enough to remind one that it took the coal pile down about as swift as in any other old country" Stay warm and have a good week. |
